Building & Managing Your Auxiliary, Program Group or Committee
Please review this helpful information if you are a new group chairperson:
- If you are interested in forming a new committee or want to change chairs, please contact Executive Director, Phil Nordlinger. All committees & committee chairs must be approved by the Congregation President and Executive Committee and follow the guidelines/policies set forth in the Beth Or constitution.
 - If you are a new committee or taking over as the chair of an existing committee, follow these steps:

- Set up a meeting with your Exec Board liaison. At this meeting review or establish the mission for your committee and general guidelines as to how the committee will function. These will be reviewed and approved by the Exec Board and/or Board of Trustees.
 - Establish regular check ins with your liaison to provide a status of your committee and any initiatives so they can coordinate to make sure your initiative isn't duplicating another effort, or help connect you with other committees to work together if/when applicable.
 - Set up a meeting with Phil Nordlinger, Jillian Peskin and Judy Trias so they can help familiarize you with processes and procedures.

 - An initial "call for Committee members" can be included in the Community Matters weekly e-mail. Send copy to Judy Trias. Be sure to include a brief description, contact info and the date of your first/upcoming meeting.
 - After your first meeting, Committee lists should grow organically and are managed/maintained by the Committee Chair, whether you choose to communicate with your committee by email or text - or both.
 - Contact Phil Nordlinger to add your committee meetings to the Beth Or internal calendar. Be sure to include any set up needs for your meeting, if applicable. Please note, committee meetings are NOT included on the public facing web calendar. Be sure to send an email or text to your committee members to remind them about your meeting and/or any changes.
 - If you would like to propose a new event/program, complete an Event Proposal Form. Please follow the guidelines for requesting to schedule an event. Once an event is approved, if it is open to the Beth Or community, send the details to Judy Trias at least 3-4 weeks ahead of your RSVP deadline so it can be added to applicable communications.
 - If you would like to write a Spotlight article (Beth Or's bi-monthly e-magazine) to feature your committee or upcoming events/programs, please contact Judy Trias.
