Youth Engagement Programs

K - 6th Grade Youth Engagement

Beth Or offers a variety of fun, social programs for our children in Kindergarten through 6th grade!

We provide monthly programs for our elementary school aged students, after religious school Judaics session on Sunday from 11:15am - 12:45pm. These programs breakdown by K - 2nd grade and 3rd - 6th grade. Fun activities are planned that encourage social engagement and building friendships.

Everyone enrolled in Religious School is automatically a member of our youth engagement programs.

YOBO (Youth of Beth Or Teen Program) 7th - 12th Grade Youth Engagement

YOBO, our 7th - 12th grade education and engagement program, combines youth group, religious school, social functions and service projects.

Learning + Doing + Friends = YOBO!

What do students do?

Each month we offer:

  • Hands-on classes on fun Jewish topics or ideas, or a service project for volunteer hours
  • 1-3 core sessions for 10th grade (Confirmation)

When does it meet?

  • Sunday evenings from 5pm - 6:45pm
  • Sessions are scheduled about three times a month; students attend sessions as they are able to. There is one exception: Madrichim meet on Sunday mornings starting at 9:30am (and/or Monday/Tuesday Hebrew school).

YOBO Parent Liaisons: Rachel Steinberg and Allison Levin

All 1st - 6th grade students who love to sing and make new friends are welcome to participate in our Junior Choir, led by Cantor Murley.

The choir performs at the first Friday Family Shabbat services from September through June, as well as holiday and other special services during the year. They also have fun social events and put together the Purim Schpiel each year for Purim.

Another Choir option is the Beth Or Multigenerational Choir, under the direction of Cantor Murley. This choir is for adults, teens and children who love to sing less formal music. They help lead three services during the year with two rehearsals (usually on Sunday afternoons) leading up to each service.
