-
11:30am | Teacher - Rabbi Lance Sussman | Topic - The Challenge of Freedom: 250 Years of American Judaism | Description - July 4, 1776 was a revolution in Jewish history. Could Judaism survive freedom of and from religion? We are still answering that question 250 years later.
-
1pm | Teacher - Beth Rabinowitz | Topic - Teshuva and Turning: Going Beyond the Apology | Description - Come together to study and share as a group with longtime educator and congregant Beth Rabinowitz. Share meaningful experiences of Torah and togetherness with other congregants. All texts provided; no prior knowledge necessary.
-
2:45pm | Teacher - Rabbi Elliot Strom | Topic - Bob Dylan, Yom Kippur and the Question of Divine Justice | Description - On Yom Kippur afternoon, we read Eileh Ezkerah, a harrowing martyrology. For these great rabbis to have suffered so terribly makes us wonder about how God could do such bad things to such good people. Believe it or not, Bob Dylan provides a possible answer to this in his song, “When the Ship Comes In.” We’ll listen to the song and see if the lyrics point us in a way that helps us understand the challenges of the Yom Kippur liturgy.
-
- Family Worship Service, 3pm (child-centered service, open to all ages) Please note, all afternoon services starting with Family Worship are starting 15 minutes later this year
- Afternoon Neilah & Yizkor, 4:15pm
- Break the Fast, 6:30pm (approx.)
