The Worst Purim CARnival Ever!

Beth Or's Worst Purim CARnival Ever!

Sunday, February 21, 2021 • 11am - 2pm (Inclement Weather Date: February 28)

Purim is the time to rejoice, not only DESPITE the absurdity of our world, but BECAUSE of the absurdity of our world. There is no better time than now for our Beth Or community to come together (socially distanced, of course) to celebrate! Since this year is so bizarre, and Purim is a topsy-turvy day,  join us to REVel in the fact that this will be the worst Purim CARnival you’ve ever attended. Buckle up for this fun drive-thru event with multiple interactive stations, giveaways and prizes!

RSVP required below by Thursday, February 18 so we can include your family and have your goodie bag ready!

Enter the Carnival from the Butler Pike parking lot entrance and weave your way through the booths, including:

  • Drawing of (Parking) Lots: Haman drew lots to pick a day to kill the Jews. You'll pick a ticket in the parking lot and be entered to win prizes!
  • Shoe Shines: We said "Shushan" - the setting of the Purim story. But they heard "Shoe Shine!" It's ok, we'll roll with it. Drop off new or gently used shoes for our collection drive, benefiting Soles for Souls.
  • Car Vash(ti):  Vashti was a role model for women everywhere. She stood up for herself. Here's your chance to be a role model for our young adults. For a suggested $10 donation, our YOBO students will dress up your car! Proceeds help support our Youth group programming.
  • Give More(dechai): Moredechai helped save the Jews. Here's your chance to help those in need. Bring your own paper goods - roll of toilet paper, paper towels, or bag of napkins and toss into the giant barrels to win prizes. Your donations will benefit Manna on Main Street & Interfaith Housing Network. (You can drop off canned/boxed goods at this station, too!)
  • Esther(ical) Comedy Club:  Laugh until you cry while we entertain you with silly jokes and Jewish humor.
  • AchashverROSH (Hashanah):  Did we get the memo wrong? Rather than honoring this famous and foolish king of the Purim story, pick up a Tootsie Pop (a Beth Or High Holiday Tradition!) as we mistakenly welcome in the Jewish New Year.
  • Mishloach My (Gift) Notes:  Partake in this mitzvah of giving to friends on Purim! Pick up a bag with well wishes and goodies from your Beth Or community.
  • Mr. Grogger's Neighborhood: Our CECE & Camp Harlam are handing out groggers that you can decorate at home. Camp Information will be available. You'll need these for what's coming next!
  • Hey, Man!:  We were talking about that wicked, wicked man! But they heard it as a chance to just say "Hey, man!" Make sure to remind them that they are saying the name of the most wicked man of the Purim story! Make some noise with your groggers and boo them on your way out as you hear the name of Haman! Or, Hey, Man?
  • Photo Station: This is the only station where you leave your car. Have your photo taken at our photo booth and pick up your memento. Congratulations, you have participated in the WORST PURIM CARNIVAL EVER! We hope you had the BEST time!
