FEBRUARY'S A FINE TIME TO DO A MITZVAH

.....Help Us As We House Families In Transition

This February, Beth Or will once again support Family Promise Montco PA* (formerly Inter-Faith Hospitality Network) to fulfill the mitzvah of helping families who are experiencing homelessness and hunger, transition to independence and self-sufficiency. We are proud to have partnered in this program for the past 24 years! This program relies on volunteers from across the congregation to help with meals, transportation and chaperoning. This is a great mitzvah project for the entire family!

NEW THIS YEAR:  REDUCED TIME COMMITMENT!  You can help in the following modified ways:

  • Prepare meals for the families and drop off at Beth Or. (You no longer need to stay with the families while they eat.)
  • Provide transportation
  • Chaperone for a 1-2 hour period to be a host/hostess and check in families as they return to Beth Or and get settled in for the evening. (Overnight stays no longer required.)

Throughout the month of February, up to 3 families will stay overnight at Beth Or.

Attention transportation volunteers: A Pennsylvania Department Transportation Bureau of Driver Licensing history, (website: https://apps.pa.egov.com/idr) must be provided by anyone who signs up to drive families. Many of you have already provided this information in prior years to Family Promise - formerly IHN). If it has been longer than 3 years since you provided this record, please send your updated PA individual driver report to Family Promise's Community Resource Manager, Sue Zomberg, sue@i-fha.org.

We will once again use Care Calendar to sign up for volunteer slots:  https://www.carecalendar.org/   Code:  224429      Security Code:  1111 (advance the calendar to February 2023)

Questions? Please contact program chairs: Nancy Shaffer-End, theends4@msn.com or Elisabeth Hess, elisabeth2331@gmail.com.

Thank you in advance for volunteering to participate in this important community mitzvah.
