Caring Congregants COVID-19 Volunteer Form

The Caring Congregant Committee is committed to serving the most vulnerable groups in our Beth Or community during the COVID-19 pandemic ( Age 60+, underlying health conditions, reside in assisted living, in isolation, etc.) Many of you have asked how you can help! Below are a few volunteer opportunities. Please complete this form and someone from the committee will be in touch shortly with a detailed assignment.

1. Calling Congregants Over Age 60:
We know that this age group is the most vulnerable, and perhaps the most isolated. We would like volunteers to call them to check in. If you choose this task, you will be given a specific script and a way to let our committee and the clergy know their needs.

2.  Writing Letters/ Drawing Pictures/ Making Cards/ Writing Poems: Some of our congregants are very isolated during this time, as they may have visitor restrictions. We would like to send them letters, drawings, poems, etc, to brighten their days. This is a wonderful mitzvah for adults and children of all ages. Please note: If you volunteer for this, you will need to follow specific hand washing and letter sealing protocols, which we will provide for you.

3. Making & Delivering Meals: Some of our congregants are in need of home cooked meals. If you are able to make kosher style meals, we also need you to be able to deliver them, using safe practices, which we will provide for you.

4. Shopping & Delivering: Some of our congregants are unable to shop for groceries, household products or pharmacy items. If you are interested with this task, we will be in touch with specific details.

5. Technology Training & Assistance: In a time where we are working hard to engage our community members virtually, some congregants have challenges using this technology. If you are tech savvy and able to coach someone over the phone or by facetime, please volunteer for this option and we will be in touch with details.
This is so we can match you to someone who lives nearby.
