Dear Brotherhood Members and Friends:

 

What is Brotherhood all about? Brotherhood at Congregation Beth Or has a new, exciting vision. We are focused on more fully serving the congregation and supporting the men of our congregation throughout their different stages of life – including their relationships with children and/or grandchildren. We exist to facilitate connections between our members for help, guidance, and support with men’s issues: spiritual, social, educational, and life cycle events.

We offer opportunities to meet our members’ need through programs and events such as our Brotherhood retreat, periodic spiritual programs, Jewish preparedness, generational programs, social activities, business forums, and a shared resource. This year we will be sponsoring new events such as an Eagles tailgating party at Beth Or (away game), a periodic card night, and a parent-child event such as laser tag/go carts, etc. Brotherhood will be working with Sisterhood to provide joint Sunday brunch events;  partnering with other Beth Or committees; providing summer programming; holding a welcoming event for new members; and looking for new ways to serve our member’s needs.

 

Fundraising, along with membership dues, finance our programs and events. In 2001, we initiated a new category of membership, The Mensch.” The Mensch member is recognized with a special Mensch lapel pin and our deepest thanks for the additional contribution.

 

The President of the Brotherhood is your voice on the Board of Trustees and Executive Committee of the Congregation. As an auxiliary of the Congregation, we sponsor and participate in a variety of activities and events which enhance the Congregation and our community. 

 

Along with the President, the officers of the organization consist of a First Vice-President, Second Vice-President, Treasurer, and Secretary. Monthly meetings provide members with updates from the various committees and are used to plan the organization’s activities and events.

 

Please join us – not only with your membership dues, also with your time, energy, and talent. We welcome your financial support that enables the Brotherhood to function and we welcome your involvement to make our Brotherhood a vibrant and integral parts of Congregation Beth Or. A new name, a new direction, a new attitude, and a renewed commitment are our goal.
