What is Junior Choir?
Junior Choir is a group for students in grades 2-12 who enjoy singing, who want to become comfortable with participating in the service, standing on the bimah, and working with the clergy. This is a great program for students who want their Bar/Bat Mitzvah to be a breeze! It is also a fun way for students to earn their service requirements for religious school.
What is involved?
The Jr. Choir rehearses on Sundays between the first and second session of religious school (10:45-11:15 am). They sing at Family Services on the first Friday of every month and during holiday services. The Jr. Choir gives students the opportunity not only to sing together, but to socialize together. They gather each year to have parties, play laser tag, sleepover at the synagogue and an awards banquet.
Junior Choir News
Because there is no Religious School until after Yom Kippur, only returning Jr. Choir members will be participating in the Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur Family services and our first Family Shabbat Service on Friday, September 6th. New Jr. Choir members may join us for our first Jr.Choir rehearsal on Sunday, September 15th (10:45-11:15AM) and for our first event later that afternoon.
Volunteers wanted! - We need help with many events especially in January as well as the end of the year banquet. Please contact Nancy Portney ASAP to volunteer your time to our kids.

Junior Staffer Program
We also have an active Junior Staffer Program for students grades 7-12. These students have the opportunity to teach younger choir members the music, assist with music classes on Sunday mornings, and have social events of their own. They also have the opportunity to write, help cast, and help direct the Purim Musical each year. Jr. Staffers gain valuable leadership experience and opportunities to explore their musical talents.
If you are interested in joining the Junior Choir, please see our junior choir director, Lisa Ashery or Cantor David Green for more information.
First Junior Staffer meeting will be on Friday, September 6 at 8:30 pm at the home of Lisa Ashery until 10 pm.
